Like dachshunds in the wind

As the Dukes have often done this season: Quickly ignited, but also quickly exhausted, the Dukes put in a lot of effort - albeit with little success - in the face of defeats against the team from Taunusstein-Neuhof (13:1) and St. Wendel (10:17).
In the first match of the day against the hosts, Darmstadt got off to a promising start with a goal from Thomas. However, there was not much to be gained against the German U17 national goalkeeper in the Taunusstein goal. And like a small dog with legs that were too short, we often couldn't keep up with our opponents' offence quickly enough. The speed of Taunusstein's youth players in particular caused a few problems. Our goalie Luca also prevented one or two more goals with his saves, but in the end the scoreboard still showed a 13:1 defeat. After the match, the Taunussteiners praised the consistently high approach, which sometimes disrupted the opponent's build-up play.
The second game was much more tempestuous. It went back and forth until the score was 3:3 after almost 8 minutes. After that, however, St. Wendel were able to capitalise on their superior play and make it 4:8 at the break. In the second half of the game, there was a novelty: Tim scored on a pass from Thomas, a combination that is rarely seen in training. With another goal from Tim in this game, he is now not only our record player but, together with our former team-mate Jens, who is now playing at Lake Constance, is now also the top scorer in the club's history. Unfortunately, the Dukes' offensive efforts were not rewarded, as St. Wendel knew how to cover our goalkeeper Tim in order to score, but he was still able to make some strong saves. As a result, the game ended with a score of 10:17.
In the third game of the day, Thomas and Pascal had to referee an exciting match between the first two opponents of the day. Taunusstein only managed to win 9:8 in overtime.
There are only a few weeks left until the next and final matchday for the Dukes this season. There we expect more headwind from our dachshunds so that we can show once again what is possible even with limited resources.
